We all know Gretna Green is famous for the Anvil weddings, so we thought we would show you what the real attraction of Dumfriesshire are. Home to the birth place of Robert Burns, Devils Porridge and the first ever savings bank. Watch a re-enactment at the famous blacksmith as you learn the history of the wedding ceremony. Gretna Hall is the oldest building in Gretna Green and has been hosting weddings since the 1800s. Originally built, as the manor house for the Gretna Estate, it was later converted into a coaching inn and quickly became the luxury runaway wedding destination for the 19th Century’s rich and famous.
