Temple Newsam, is a Tudor-Jacobean house in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, with grounds landscaped by Capability Brown. The house is a Grade I listed building, one of nine Leeds Museums and Galleries sites and part of the research group, Yorkshire Country House Partnership.

Temple Newsam is one of the great houses of England, bursting with treasures and tales. With over 500 years of history, it has been home to many colourful characters. Explore this atmospheric house, immerse yourself in tales gone by and marvel at the beautifully crafted interiors.  After being seized by Henry VIII and granted to his niece, the house became birthplace to the notorious Lord Darnley, husband of Mary Queen of Scots and father of James I. Beyond its illustrious Tudor origins, the Ingram family also left their marks.

Within the walled garden you can discover 800 yards of outstanding herbaceous borders, rose beds and herbs set within the original brick walls, a truly peaceful spot to take a break. Wander through the formal south garden adjacent to the house, and take it in from the south terrace. This garden reflects 17th century design with beech and box hedges, trained laburnum arches and a pleached hornbeam walk.
